Super Eagles forward, Ikechukwu Uche, has praised Villarreal fans for their support during his time at the Spanish La Liga club.
Uche left Villarreal for Mexican side, Tigres UANL, on June 20 after four seasons at the El Madrigal Stadium.
The player, who scored 33 goals in 85 appearances for the side since joining them in 2011, said in a letter posted on Villarreal’s official website on Wednesday, “I could not start this farewell letter without thanking all those who, in one way or another, have helped all these years that my stay at Villarreal was perfect.
“The fans who have given me their affection at all times, both in good times, which have been many – and the bad.
“In these three seasons, El Madrigal has   been my home and in it I felt comfortable at all times, supported by the countless fans that took on the wings in the ascent to the First Division and encouraged us to achieve great success in Spain and Europe.
“I want to thank the whole board, especially President Fernando Roig for his close relationship and support.
“I also want to thank all those who work within the big family called Villarreal CF, from first to last of its workers. I do not want to forget anyone. You all know how much I appreciate and how important you were to give me the day at the club. We also acknowledge the support of the sponsors and companies involved in this project, without you it would not be possible.”
Uche also praised the coaches and the medical teams he worked with at the club as well as his colleagues and the media, saying the club would forever be his home.
He said, “I have not forgotten you, my colleagues. Thanks to all who have been a part of the first team during these seasons, especially the group of last season.”
